Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Danielle Zvirman to Deer Lakes School District!

"I am very excited for this new chapter in my career, and I hope to be with the Deer Lakes community for a long time," Mrs. Zvirman said. "I have already felt so welcomed by all of the staff, students, and families I have met. I look forward to building these relationships and supporting students as they navigate high school and plan for what comes next."

Mrs. Zvirman attended Plum High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree at the University of Pittsburgh (H2P!), and earned a Master of Education in School Counseling at Slippery Rock University. She is also working towards her supervision hours required to be a LPC in Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Zvirman is entering her 10th year as a school counselor, having previously served as an elementary counselor in central Pennsylvania and for five years at Knoch High School.

Several teachers at Plum High School left a lasting impact and inspired Mrs. Zvirman to become an educator.

"I wanted to be an English teacher for the longest time because of my wonderful English teachers, Mrs. Kelley and Mr. Parente," she said. "Mr. Marston, my history teacher in 11th and 12th grade, encouraged me to join the Future Educators of America club that he advised. I had Mr. Magnusen for AP Psychology, which sparked my interest in the field of psychology and the helping professions. I still think of how I felt when I walked into their classrooms and the impact they all had on me and am extremely grateful."

Mrs. Zvirman realized when exploring options for graduate school that school counseling would combine all of her interests.

"I love helping students succeed and overcome problems, whether they are academic related, social/emotional, or preparing for college or their future career," Mrs. Zvirman said. "I have worked with all grade levels PreK-12, but I find working with high schoolers most rewarding, because you can see them grow from 9-12th grade and help them towards the next chapter of their lives."
