Please join us in welcoming Mr. Zachary Merritt to Deer Lakes School District!

"I am excited to teach at Deer Lakes and bring practical experience to help students tie the theoretical lessons to necessary real-world skills that they need to do well in life and career," Mr. Merritt said. "Deer Lakes has a great culture where teachers and staff are looking out for each other and really focus on leading each student to success."

Mr. Merritt attended York Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelors degree at Penn State, a Masters of Engineering Management degree at Old Dominion, and a Masters of Art in Teaching degree at Duquesne University.

Mr. Merritt also has 10 years of experience in the U.S. Navy and 10 more years of experience with Duquesne Light in Project Management.

"I had the privilege to be an instructor at the Naval Submarine School during my time in the Navy," Mr. Merritt said. "After that experience, I have always wanted to get back into a classroom to teach and inspire the next generation."
