Congratulations to Deer Lakes senior Ella Bieniek and Avonworth senior Lexi Mannion who earned a FCCLA State Championship in the National Programs in Action Competition, in which they focused on Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety.

In December, Ella and Lexi brought nationally recognized keynote speaker Cara Filler to present to all students at A.W. Beattie about driving safety. Cara spoke about roles as drivers and passengers and how you can save lives on the road.

Following the presentation, Ella and Lexi held a week-long driving campaign to extend their initiative for students. They also used surveys and driving safety materials to track engagement among the student body. Ella and Lexi plan to continue this project further around prom season when they will discuss responsible decision making and driving under the influence.
